What is Blooming Tea
Blooming tea or flowering tea is absolutely fascinating. It’s a bundle of dried tea leaves wrapped around dried flowers. When steeped, it blooms into a beautiful bouquet at the bottom of your pot or cup. Watching it never ceases to amaze me. It’s like a time lapse of a bud growing into a full blown flower.
It remains unclear whether or not blooming tea or flowering tea is a modern invention or ancient one, but the consensus is that it originated from China (where else?). If it’s been around for more than hundreds of years, Marie Antoinette must’ve enjoyed it during one of her lavish parties. Here’s Sofia Coppola’s take on the scene.
These days, however, you don’t have to be royalty to try out this beautiful drink. In fact, you can try it in your own backyard if you like! Get a clear pot, vase, or a large glass. Invite your friends and family for high tea some time and get ready to be as enthralled as I was when I first saw one with my own eyes.
Will and Ani have mastered the art of blooming tea and have created their own bouquets as well. Lucky for us, they’re selling it on this shop too!
