In almost every person's life there is time when the feeling of despair wins over logic - especially when you urgently need or want to lose weight. It's in our nature to want to look good and to feel good and sometimes, advertisements full of promises give you a little spark of hope. Ok, more than sometimes. But, how much truth is in those slimming tea promises?
There is no secret solution
Let's face it - if there was a secret solution everyone would look amazing, obesity and obesity-related health issues would be unheard of, and people would be constantly happy. But, there isn't a magical solution. Not even in tea.
Is real tea able to help?
The answer is - yes - but not in a way you would expect. Although tea was discovered thousands of years ago, full benefits are still quite of a grey zone. Most studies include oolong and green tea, especially matcha. Some of them found it to be completely ineffective, some prove that it can help - but only if taken in a certain way. Of course, results will always depend on the type of tea you are drinking and its nutritional content.
How slimming tea works?
There are teas that will be able to help in achieving your goals. They mostly work because of their diuretic or laxative effect. The other reason why they will help is due to the fact many will replace at least a bottle of sugary drink with pure unsweetened „slimming tea". That's an immediate reduction in calories. All real teas are considered diuretics as they contain caffeine. Herbal teas like hibiscus, dandelion and cranberry also act like diuretics. Be careful though, you might see the results fast, but only in the beginning - because your body will be losing water only.
The tea that might help
One of the best pure teas that might help is pu'er. Again, quality is important. Pu'er is considered great for lowering cholesterol and fat. Drinking pu'er after meal might give you instant relief and speed up the metabolism. Roasted barley tea or mugicha and mate tea are also considered good for boosting metabolism and suppressing appetite. Matcha might be extremely helpful, even in gaining some lean muscle -but very likely in doses that are impossible to meet in everyday conditions.

What they don't tell you
No one will ever tell you the most simple part of weight-loss equation - spending calories needs to be higher than their intake. And no tea in the world will ever change that. Teas are a great way to add a healthy unsweetened drink into your life, to substitute other diuretic medicine, or as a natural metabolism boosting or appetite suppressing ingredient - but they won't work on their own, and rarely in a magical expected way. Next, unfortunately, every healthy weight-loss always includes a reasonable amount of exercise - make it three times per week and use teas with caffeine as a pre-workout drink.
Stay happy
What is the most important ingredient for weight-loss is the amount of joy you are experiencing on the way to your perfect health and body. Drinking tea you hate just won't do it. Whichever pure tea you choose, you can rest assured that if you are enjoying it and are sure about the quality, you will benefit from drinking it.
