I have a teapot with a curly wire strainer near the pouring end that is supposed to filter out or hold back the tea leaves when I pour, but I always get tea in my cup, especially with Rooibos or smaller leaf teas. Does anyone have any tips on how to stop this or do I just need a different product for steeping my tea?:S
Even though people may claim the wire strainer will filter out the loose tea when they sell it to you, there is just no physical way it can filter all the tea leaves. I've found the wire strainer on tea kettles to be more for blooming teas than loose leaf tea. Another reason not to use a wire strainer on loose leaf tea is you won't be able to steep the tea properly. Loose tea, as with all tea, has a limited amount of time that it should actually be immersed in the hot water. If it stays too long or too short, the taste will not be the best or as intended. Refer to the product page of any of our teas to see the recommended steep time as it is different for every type of tea.
